**Office for Early Childhood Development**
**Job reference**: 650506
**Location**: 5000 - ADELAIDE
**Job status**: Long Term Contract
**Eligibility**: Open to Everyone

**Why work with us**:
The Office for Early Childhood Development was created to champion change and to help build a system that gives all South Australian children a flying start to life.

Guided by the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care, the Office for Early Childhood Development is the steward of the early childhood development system in South Australia.

The Office is tasked with a significant responsibility: bringing together a holistic, connected system for early childhood development across South Australia, with the goal of reducing the rate of children entering school developmental vulnerable. Critical to this is the roll-out of universal 3-year-old preschool from 2026, giving every child access to 2 years of teacher-led, play-based early learning before school.

**About the role**:
The Economic and Financial Modelling Analyst will work in the Modelling and Funding Policy team of the Policy, Provision and Planning division. Your work will support economic modelling, data analysis, and evidence-based decision-making to shape the future of early childhood education in South Australia.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

- Maintain and source relevant data assets across the work program, ensuring data and information are tailored to the intended audience.
- Conduct discrete data analysis related to budget and financial modelling, local provision planning, market analysis, and policy scenario analysis.
- Utilize and interpret outputs from the statewide preschool provision model, including funding, infrastructure, and workforce planning elements.
- Update data elements within the statewide preschool provision model, as directed.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement, including identifying efficiencies in work programs.

**About you**:
Are you passionate about using data and economic insights to make informed decisions? Are you seeking your next opportunity to use quantitative approaches to inform policymaking? Join us at the Office for Early Childhood Development to conduct financial and economic modelling that supports early childhood education across South Australia.

To thrive in this role, you will bring the following key skills and experience:

- Technical proficiency in modelling, data analytics and reporting, with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Excel and coding (R strongly preferred).
- Effective communication skills to effectively deliver complex data and analysis in both written and verbal formats.
- Autonomy with demonstrated experience to work under limited direction and exercise independent judgement.
- Policy experience, contributing to policy analysis and complex advice, including communicating data to provide recommendations and support decision-making. Knowledge of the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector and data sources is preferred but not required.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to foster relationships with stakeholders across all levels of government and beyond.

**Qualifications**

A relevant degree in economics, finance, or another quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, statistics, psychology) is highly desirable, but not required.

**Application instructions and information**:
Applications should be made through the IWorkForSA website.
