Newcastle, Australia NSW Government -Regional and Outer Metropolitan Full time

**About us**

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do - and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW - you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

**About the Team**

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

With recent flood events affecting 60 Local Government Area communities across NSW and an estimated cost of $150m to restore State Road networks and in excess of $1.1b to restore local and regional road networks, we have quickly mobilized to reinstate access, services and connections to keep NSW moving.

To continue our efforts, a **Regional Transport Natural Disaster Recovery Taskforce** has been stood up to coordinate Transport’s recovery effort across the ROM division.

The Regional Transport Natural Disaster Recovery Taskforce works together across ROM and with our colleagues in the Safety, Environment and Regulation (SER) and Greater Sydney divisions to provide a cluster-wide recovery plan, while also contributing to a whole of Government approach via the State Recovery Committee. We’re interfacing with other agencies like Infrastructure NSW, Resilience NSW and Local Governments across the state to drive coordinated activities and information for the people of NSW.

**The Opportunity**

Right now we have multiple opportunities for experienced Project Officers to assist the Taskforce in the Asset Repair and Service Recovery workstream. The role will develop and manage efficient project and administrative processes to support effective project development, delivery and handover of assigned Natural Disaster projects.

These roles are aligned with TfNSW North teams and sit within either Asset Programs North (2 roles), Bridge Works Northern (1 role) or Project Services North (2 roles).

Some key responsibilities of the role include:

- Provide project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones, and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality outcomes are in line with approved project plans.
- Identify and collate end user project requirements and develop options for solutions.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and implementation issues.
- Manage the delivery of projects by working collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Work cooperatively and demonstrate a continuous improvement and growth mind-set by contributing and testing ideas for improving work practices, collaborating with internal and external business areas, to achieve objectives and work outcomes.
- Responsible for specialist projects which span the sub-region/region. This could include areas such as the bushfire resilience package, the fauna assets strategy, and Northern water blasting program.

**The positions are Temporary Fixed Term roles up to 24 months in total**

**About you**

Ideally you will have previous project management or support experience in a similar role and demonstrated ability to work across multi-disciplinary areas (roads, bridges, rail and traffic controls signals), prioritising tasks, working towards deadlines and concurrently managing multiple activities on a complex program of work.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. This program has numerous stakeholders so it is crucial that you can engage with a diverse audience and deal with people at all levels. You will need to be able to build rapport and develop strong relations across multiple internal and external sources. You will need to leverage these relationships to seek the appropriate advice and information required to inform your decisions, as well as negotiate outcomes and overcome challenges.

**Salary and Benefits**

The salary for this position is USS8 ($104,18 to $111,796) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.

**Interested?**

Right now is an exciting time to join our team as we are delivering the largest infrastructure program Australia has ever seen - to keep people and goods moving, connect communities and shape the future of our cities, centres and regio
