**Support Excellence in Patient Care - Allied Health Assistant Role**

Join SA Health as an Allied Health Assistant at Flinders Medical Centre in the Division of Rehabilitation, Aged & Palliative Care and play an essential role in supporting the recovery and wellbeing of rehabilitation patients. You will work alongside experienced allied health professionals, assisting with treatments, equipment preparation, and providing direct patient support in a modern healthcare environment. This part-time ongoing weekend position offers excellent training opportunities and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients across the Southern Adelaide community.

This is a weekend role and involves working a full day Saturday and Sunday morning.

**About the role**:
Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for the relevant Occupational Therapist for provision of assistance with patient care as directed, in order to arrange safe and timely discharge, improved independence and occupational outcomes. The AHA also ensures cleanliness and proper functioning of clinical areas and equipment, and undertakes administrative support as required

Duties for the role will include:

- Assisting with the preparation of a patient for treatment, including manual handling,
- Supervise or assist in therapy and exercise programs, both individual and group sessions, as directed and after demonstration by the therapist,
- Implementing patient’s therapy programs, providing education and advice to ensure the program is completed appropriately eg for exercises, cognitive retraining and ADL/ILS retraining,

**About you**:

- Must hold or be undertaking a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent,
- Demonstrated aptitude for work in a healthcare environment,
- Ability to communicate with all staff and the public including the ability to be courteous and respectful, and to empathise with and motivate people,
- Ability to observe and report back to supervising therapist on patient behaviour and progress in therapy sessions,
- Previous relevant experience with patient care or experience in working with people with varying degrees of disability and/or backgrounds
