Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Drone Pilot to join our team in Melbourne, Australia. As a Drone Pilot, you will play a vital role in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, providing aerial imaging, data collection, and surveying services using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Your expertise will contribute to the efficient planning, design, and execution of construction projects.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Conduct aerial surveys and inspections using drones, capturing high-quality images, videos, and data of construction sites, buildings, and infrastructure projects.
2. Operate drones safely and skillfully to obtain precise and accurate aerial footage for architectural, engineering, and construction purposes.
3. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction professionals to determine project requirements and objectives for drone flights.
4. Plan and execute flight missions, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, safety protocols, and local airspace restrictions.
5. Maintain and calibrate drones, cameras, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
6. Process and analyze captured data to generate detailed reports, maps, and models that assist in project planning, progress monitoring, and quality control.
7. Collaborate with project teams to integrate aerial data into BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information System) software.
8. Stay up to date with industry trends, drone technology advancements, and regulatory changes related to drone operations.
9. Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections to ensure the safe operation of drones and identify any maintenance or technical issues.
10. Comply with privacy laws and ethical guidelines when capturing and handling sensitive or private information during aerial operations.
**Requirements**:
1. Hold a valid Remote Pilot License (RePL) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in Australia.
2. Possess a current Remote Operator's Certificate (ReOC) or be willing to obtain one.
3. Demonstrated experience in operating drones and capturing aerial footage, particularly in the AEC industry.
4. Strong knowledge of drone flight planning, navigation, and operational safety procedures.
5. Familiarity with aerial imaging technologies, such as high-resolution cameras, LiDAR, and thermal sensors.
6. Proficiency in post-processing software for data analysis, such as photogrammetry and GIS software.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting and maintenance of drones and related equipment.
8. Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
9. Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and privacy laws governing drone operations in Australia.
10. Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
**Job Type**: Subcontract
**Salary**: $40.00 - $80.00 per hour
