We are currently recruiting for an Specialist Process Control Standards& Governancewho will report directly into theDirector Process Control and Operational Intelligence. This role is being offered from any of our Australian hubs in Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane.
**The role**:
As the Specialist Process Control Standards& Governance you willoversee the identification, design and governance of process control optimization solutions across all Newmont sites, ensuring compliance with global standards and replication of best practices in engineering, design, and deployment. The role is a point of technical escalation for process control strategy design, tuning and technical issues, providing critical oversight and guidance to process control engineers, supporting complex project development, coaching and mentoring, and ensuring optimal performance of process control solutions across Newmont's global operations.
**A day in the life may include**:
- Proactive leadership and an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development and technical regulatory compliance.
- Support central process control teams as the primary escalation pathway for highly challenging process control problems, strategy development, modelling, tuning and related issues
- Design process control strategy and automation solutions for highly complex control challenges; support Process Control Engineering team in by reviewing design solutions for challenges of lower complexity
- Conduct post implementation audits of the automation solutions, ensuring adherence to best practice
- Facilitate, maintain, update, promote and where appropriate enforce global process control technical standards and specifications, MOC processes and governance
- Responsible for the technical configuration within the Plant ESP controller performance tools and training of staff to ensure adoption and value delivery
- Co-ordinate, catalog, develop and maintain a library of best-practice process control practices
- Develop and maintain the FPC global skills and competencies framework for process control, and audit annual skills assessments for all control system related competencies
- Lead technical knowledge sharing presentations across the global process control community to elevate skillset of the team with respect to process control
- Participate in industry forums to keep abreast of industry trends and benchmarks and promote Newmont profile across the mining industry
**About you**:
Ideally you will have a Bachelor's degree or higher in fields such as Process Control, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering, along with a working background in Process Control Engineering or Processing Optimization. Ayou will hold advanced competency in optimizing processing plants, including site-based roles, and demonstrate a solid understanding of best practices in control and optimization theory. You will enjoy mentoring technical teams and have experience in multiple regions or global roles, particularly in Africa, North America, or South America. Proficiency in using analytical tools like Plant Historians and Excel to evaluate process and automation performance will be highly regarded.
