**About the role**

There are days when you will be challenged and there will be some tough moments but you will know in your heart that you are making a positive difference to a young person's life. In this role you will be providing support to young people with disabilities, you may also be required to travel between the Gold Coast and Brisbane on occasion.

No two days will be the same however your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Mentoring and acting as a role model for young people;
- Helping them in building positive social skills, utilizing effective conflict management and negotiation, and building healthy relationships;
- Assisting them with their physical and emotional well-being. This includes anything from helping them prepare their meals and clean up after themselves, to just being there for them when times get tough;
- Administering program records and maintaining strict documentation in accordance with legal requirements and service policy;
- The core hours of work will include night and weekend work. You will also be required to attend staff meetings and compulsory training provided by the organisation.

Remuneration for this role is $34.04- $36.50 per hour commensurate with experience.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications skills and experience will consist of:

- A Certificate IV in a relevant child welfare course or enrolled and working towards completion;
- Experience providing support to clients with disabilities;
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge working in residential care; and/or working with young people in a child protection or community service context;
- Solid experience working with young people who have significant emotional and psychological support needs;
- Drivers Licence, P2 or above;
- Possess or has the ability to obtain a National Police Check, Blue Card (Working with Children) and a Licensed Care Services (LCS).
