The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Regional Manager, Sheriff's Operations (Metro) to provide a critical role in South East Metropolitan Region.

About us
Through delegation from the Sheriff of Victoria, Sheriff's officers execute civil and criminal warrants issued by Victorian and federal courts and enforce sanctions against those who do not comply with court orders. The Sheriff's service delivery system is comprised of the Sheriff of Victoria, Sheriff's Office Victoria (SOV) and Sheriff's officers based in regional offices across Victoria. Sheriff's officers are part of a ‘One Justice” service delivery model in which the community can access the department's services at regional Justice Service Centres as required.

About the role
The Regional Manager leads and promotes the vision, values and direction of regional Sheriff's Operations in Department of Justice and Regulation regions across Victoria. The Regional Manager leads a regional team of Sheriff's officers in the delivery of enforcement services that focus on the efficient actioning and finalisation of outstanding civil and criminal warrants, and the achievement of annual outputs and performance targets.
Strategically, the Regional Manager will plan, manage, and monitor enforcement services, and effectively use business intelligence and efficient resource deployment to achieve annual performance targets. The enhance community perceptions of Sheriff Operations, the Regional Manager will focus on community engagement including participation in regional activities aimed at community educations, consultation and raising the profile of Sheriff's Operations across the region. This includes working with Koori and CALD communities, other enforcement agencies, other justice and government agencies and participation in high visibility activities.
Operationally, the Regional Manager manages all elements of Sheriff's Operations across the region, ensuring policy and legislative compliance, and conforming to all Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety requirements. The incumbent will inspire a sense of teamwork and commitment to service excellence and oversee the performance and development of staff to ensure they possess the required skills and knowledge to effectively carry out their duties.
As part of the regional management team, the Regional Manager provides tactical and operational advice on all aspects of performance, reporting on procedural and legislative compliance, the effectiveness of systems, resources, and processes, and promptly advising on risks that may impact on performance, departmental reputation, stakeholder relationships, and staff health and wellbeing. This includes the provision of accurate, authoritative, and timely advice and responses to the Executive and Regional Directors, the Sheriff, and the Deputy Sheriff where required other managers within DJR. The Regional Manager reports to the Executive Director or their delegate and is also required to work cooperatively with the Sheriff and the Deputy Sheriff in Sheriff's Office Victoria (SOV). SOV is responsible for, in collaboration with the regions, for the oversight of the service system and the development and oversight of Sheriff's Operations policy, standards and procedures.
As a member of the Senior Management team, the Regional Manager is required to participate in activities that promote the One Justice model within the region, ensuring the Sheriff's Operation participation in community engagement activities in collaboration with other Department of Justice and Regulation's business units and program areas.

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of the Certificate IV Court Operations (Compliance) (desirable).If the successful applicant does not hold the certificate, the applicant may be required to complete additional training upon commencing in the role of Regional Manager.
