**Who are we looking for?**

We are seeking a Human Microbiome Biobank Coordinator to join School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health, Academic Division.

The Centre for Microbiome Research (CMR), in collaboration with Microba Life Sciences, has recently launched a project to establish the Australian Human Microbiome Biobank (AHMB). Microba is an Australian ASX-listed microbial genomics company that has quickly established itself as a world leader in the analysis of the gut microbiome. With a growing body of global research indicating that the gut microbiome plays a central role in health and disease, Microba has positioned itself as a leading provider in the development of new pathology services, therapeutics and diagnostics based on the microbiome. Microba provides services to individuals, healthcare professionals and researchers to deliver industry-leading microbiome-profiling solutions, and to create life-changing health care solutions. Together, the team will build Australia’s first purpose built, high-throughput cultivation platform, enabling the isolation and genomic characterisation of ~100,000 isolates from across the human body. The resulting biobank will be accessible by researchers and commercial entities to support the development of novel microbiome-based health solutions. The appointee will work within CMR to set up the biobank facility and will serve as the custodian of the biobank. As an entirely new facility, the role with involve the establishment of biobank processing and support systems and for leading National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation for Biobanking (ISO20387). As a Biobank Coordinator, the appointee will be responsible for overseeing the operations and management of a biobank facility.
