Lifestyle Assistant

**LIFESTYLE ASSISTANT**:
We are seeking a Lifestyle assistant to join our dedicated team at Corryong Health. This position is well supported and would suit anyone with Qualifications in Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or a willingness to work towards the same.

**Position Specific Requirements**:

- Plan, program and implement leisure and recreational programs and activities in consultation with the resident and help client identify their preferred recreational activity, internal and external to the facility
- Encourage and support clients to take part in activities suited to their specific need
- Plan and coordinate one on one group activities including: exercise, games, relaxation and social activities
- Participate in appropriate case/ team and other meetings as relevant
- Complete relevant documentation of activities
- Maintain a safe environment for all clients and staff
- Maintain adequate records and collected data as directed
- Assist and be responsible for care, maintenance and storage of equipment
- Participation in continuing education sessions
- Be familiar with all emergency procedures within the Agency
- Manage, train, supervise and support all volunteers working on Diversional Therapy activities
- Identify resource and equipment required to meet needs of clients
- Encourage interaction between clients and the community
- Communicates interaction between clients and the community
- Communicates appropriately at all levels
- Supports residents to engage in community activities

**Selection criteria**

**Essential**

1. Qualifications in Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or a willingness to work towards the same

2. Current First Aid Certificate

3. Have an understanding of older and younger people with disabilities needs and interests

4. Have effective and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

5. The ability to be self-directed and work independently and as part of a team

6. Have basic computer skills

7. Willingness to undertake annual vaccinations, drug and alcohol testing, fit testing and employment checks as required by Victorian law and Department of Health guidelines,

8. Demonstrate a commitment to the (Victorian Public Sector) VPSC Code of Conduct, Equal Employment Opportunity, Work Health & Safety and Cultural Diversity principles

**Desirable**

1. Experience in Diversional Therapy planning and evaluating

2. Experience in planning and providing and activities program

3. Exercise in coordinating a volunteer program

4. Diploma in Diversional Therapy or Cert IV in Health and Leisure

5. Membership of the Diversional Therapy Association

6. Valid Victorian or NSW Driver’s License
