**What you'll be doing**

The Patient Transport Officer will work as a part Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) Patient Transport team providing safe and timely transport of patients and contribute to the delivery of quality care and excellence in customer service within a cost effective and efficient environment.

**Selection Criteria**
- Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport (HLT31120) - applicants who hold this qualification will be employed under a Patient Transport Officer classification. Unqualified applicants can be employed under the Trainee Patient Transport Officer or Motor Vehicle Driver classification but must hold a current Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) First Aid Certificate. Such employees commence and remain on this classification until they obtain formal qualifications through study or recognition of prior learning. The ability to maintain the first aid certificate currency is a requirement for this role.
- Well-developed basic literacy skills including reading and writing skills and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability in providing excellent customer service and to interact professionally with clients, managers, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member and maintain strong team commitment working within an operational environment.
- Ability to accurately plan and prioritise allocated responsibilities to effectively manage daily workloads and perform in high volume and pressured environments.
- Demonstrated manual handling skills combined with proven ability to perform work of a physical nature including loading/unloading and manoeuvring patients around, on/off stretchers and in/out of wheelchairs.
- Ability to work seven-day rotational roster including public holidays, early morning commencement and late evening completion time and a reasonable amount of overtime.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

**Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases**

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015 All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
