**Description**:
Communities are fundamental. Whether around the corner or across the globe, they provide a foundation, a sense of place and of belonging. That's why at Stantec, we always design with community in mind.

Due to exciting growth in our Australian Environmental Business, we are looking for an intermediate zoologist to join our passionate Terrestrial Ecology Group. We are interested in experienced zoologists that can run straight forward projects, lead surveys and write reports. This is a permanent, full-time position.

The role:
Based in our Perth office, the team are leading experts in the field of terrestrial ecology, with strengths across vertebrate and invertebrate fauna surveys, targeted significant species surveys, technical reporting, and impact assessments.

We have a comprehensive pipeline of current and upcoming exciting projects spanning across the Pilbara, Central Deserts, Mid-west, Goldfields, and Southwest regions of Western Australia.

Joining the terrestrial ecology team, you will carry out the following:

- \tLead and/or take part in terrestrial fauna field surveys to a range of remote and diverse environments across Western Australia (and potentially interstate).
- \tAnalyse ecological data and prepare clear, concise technical reports.
- \tPreparation of proposals, budgets, and tender documents.
- \tProvide technical support and advice to the broader environment team or receive appropriate mentoring to develop your technical skills.
- \tOpportunity to expand your knowledge across various ecological disciplines (aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, marine science, environmental impact assessment, mine closure and rehabilitation), and undertake training and development to drive your career progression.

To be successful in the role you’ll need:

- \tTertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- \tA minimum of two years professional experience, ideally in terrestrial fauna, with an environmental consultancy, or a passion to develop in this discipline.
- \tTerrestrial fauna survey experience.
- \tAbility to undertake surveys, generally up to two weeks at a time in remote locations.
- \tA good level of physical fitness and ability to pass a fitness assessment for field surveys.
- \tExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly developed technical reporting skills.
- \tGIS and spatial ecology experience will be seen as beneficial, but not essential.
- \tAbility to work well in a team environment.
- \tAn interest in embracing innovation to continually improve the work we do.

Stantec offerings:
Along with a competitive remuneration package commensurate with skills and experience, we offer a number of benefits to ensure ongoing professional development and wellbeing:

- \tFlexible work arrangements on offer, including changes to patterns of hours worked, and work from home opportunities.
- \tAbility to purchase up to 4 weeks additional leave and provision for school term contracts.
- \tField Allowance and time in lieu program, to compensate staff for working longer hours during field surveys.
- \tCareer development, with opportunities to expand your knowledge across various ecological disciplines, attend conferences and undertake training.
- \tAn Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which all permanent employees and their immediate family members are eligible to access.
- \tLocal and Global Projects - while you will be based in Perth, there will be opportunities to work on a broad range of projects locally, across Australia and potentially globally.
- \tOpportunity to work in research and development, supporting innovative projects that are market leading and align with our core values.
- \tBonus Programs - we have several bonus programs that staff are eligible for.
- \tProfessional Registration and Memberships.
- \tSalary Continuance Insurance (SCI).
- \tService Recognition Awards.
- \tEmployee Referral Benefits.
