A conscious effort by the school to Expand Horizons means students contributing to "their" community may be anywhere in the World. **About You**: **Skills and Qualities for specific position**: - The Guidance Officer provides a leadership role in supporting the coordination of school based and external services at Sandgate District State High School. The ideal applicant is someone with excellent communication skills who is able to work both individually and as part of a team. They are committed to being student-centred with an all-round ability to work with a range of stakeholders. - Applicants with current working knowledge of diverse learners, inclusive practices, secondary curriculum and adjustments, QCE/QCIA, ATAR, AARA and SETP, as well as, experience in supporting students with complex needs including students in out of home care, students with mental health needs and students with behavioural needs are encouraged to apply. **About the Role**: **Responsibilities include, but not limited to**: - Conduct activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment in order to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status in order to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions. - Assist schools in the implementation of student protection, gifted and talented education, behaviour support policies and risk management processes that may involve the development of individualised student plans, including Educational Support Plans. - Provide specific support in secondary schools that may include involvement in the process of Senior Education and Training (SET) planning, career development and future pathway options counselling.
