We are seeking a professional and experienced Full-Time **Machine/Mechanical Workshop Manager** to join our business. Our office is located South of the River in Henderson and delivers highly specialised engineering services. Responsible for managing projects, coordinating crew, quoting and purchasing required materials this position will suit an ambitious, well rounded and technically minded Manager.
**Role & Responsibilities**:
The Workshop Manager’s main duty is to productively manage & control machining and Mechanical projects in the Workshop.
- Lead by example and promote a healthy and safe work environment.
- Manage all aspects of the machine shop.
- Oversee and manage the Mechanical area of the workshop.
- Effectively manage resources and materials for the successful completion of machining projects within contract and budget requirements.
- Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on the progression of projects.
- Manage machine and mechanical production in support of workshop requirements.
- Review, prepare and issue production programmes, quotes and tenders.
- Business development.
- Procure and maintain stock levels as required, with oversight on job progress costing.
- Monitor major suppliers and subcontractors.
- Manage all contract claims, variations and disputes in line with company policies and procedures.
- Promote and develop open and effective communications between crew and work groups at all levels.
- Ensure that labour is organised and utilised for the success of all projects.
- Develop and maintain professional relationship with employees and all stakeholders.
**What you will bring to the team**:
- Trade Qualification (1st Class Machinist or Fitter Machinist).
- 5 years + Management experience within a Machining Workshop Environment.
- CNC machining experience, including programming.
- Mechanical experience (highly regarded).
- Management qualifications (desirable).
- Experience in quality, safety, environmental, personnel and contract Management within major projects.
- Highly developed prioritisation skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Solution focused mentality and ability to manage complex problem as they arise.
- Strong computer skills and proficient with the Microsoft suite.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly developed time management and organizational skills.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Work Safe Regulations.
- ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.
