Operating from within the Occupational Health division, the Health Compliance Officer will help progress RSHQ's Strategic Objectives to be an exemplar expert regulator and promote improved safety and health outcomes. This is achieved by maintaining a contemporary risk-based regulatory framework and facilitating effective occupational health initiatives.The Health Compliance Officer (Psychology) will be responsible for delivering against a range of occupational health objectives, including the control of psychosocial hazards such as sexual harassment.This will include leading compliance and enforcement initiatives that assess regulatory obligations and effectiveness of controls, and investigating non-conformances, reported incidents and complaints. This will help ensure resource sector operators are managing risks to workers' psychological and physical health and safety to an acceptable level.
Key accountabilities
- Lead compliance initiatives and provide high quality investigation services, technical advice and assistance in the regulation of the state's resources industries, to ensure compliance with health-related obligations, in particular those relating to psychosocial hazards such as sexual harassment. Lead the design, planning and execution of regulatory compliance programs for health-related obligations using a data-driven, risk-based approach. Implement a range of regulatory tools to promote compliance and undertake enforcement action where appropriate. Utilise data and technology to identify risks, monitor performance, measure effectiveness of interventions and report and promote progress and outcomes. Contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory compliance policies and procedures, particularly with respect to health-related regulatory obligations, including those related to psychosocial hazards.Essential/Desirable requirements: Possession of the following qualifications and experience would be highly regarded:

- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, organisational psychology or in relation to mental health and wellbeing. Experience in managing workplace psychosocial hazards or psychological injuries. Qualifications, training or experience in occupational health and safety, social work, counselling, or workers' compensation.

Applicants may be required to complete a Government sponsored training course such as the Certificate IV (Investigations), within 12-months of commencement. Recognition of prior learning or prior competencies may be considered.
Role is likely to involve travel throughout Queensland, outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
There will be a requirement to exercise the functions of an authorised officer and special inspector under Queensland's relevant resources safety and health legislation.
