Seeking a Workplace Health & Safety Consultant to join a major State Government department

**Your new company**
A leading State Government department based in Perth CBD, is seeking an experience WHS Officer/Consultant to join the Work Health and Safety team. This role will require you to work full-time hours, initially offered on a temporary basis with the opportunity of extension offered to the right person. You will be paid on a competitive hourly rate, and ideally will be available to start ASAP should you be successful after interview.

**Your new role**
As a WHS Officer/Consultant, you will be responsible for consulting and providing advice to the department around workplace health and safety and safety management. You will be responsible for duties including:

- Provides health and safety expertise and leadership, guidance and direction to line managers, supervisors, and Health and Safety Representatives (HSR/s) across the Department on complex issues associated with WHS.
- Consults with internal stakeholders (including HSR’s) to co-ordinate joint initiatives and promote an integrated approach to managing WHS issues.
- Coordinates the provision of relevant training and guidance for staff, managers, and other stakeholders to ensure they have the skills to fulfil their WHS responsibilities.
- Monitors incident investigations and reports ensuring that appropriate corrective action is undertaken.

**What you'll need to succeed**
In order to be considered for this role you will display previous experience within WHS position. In addition, you will ideally display:

- Previous experience working within a State Government department would be advantageous
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders and provide strong advise and consultative services
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to compile incident reports and assist in developing Safety Management plans
- Excellent initiative
- Advanced IT skills with competence using MS Office Suites
