The Office of Transport Safety Investigations (OTSI) is an independent statutory office within the Transport portfolio. OTSI’s role is to improve the safety of the NSW transport network by conducting and reviewing investigations into rail, bus, and ferry accidents and incidents; identifying contributing factors to an accident or incident; and sharing insights with transport operators, regulators, and other key stakeholders, with the aim of encouraging the implementation of safety actions to prevent recurrence.

**About the Team**

Systemic Review & Insights is one of five teams reporting to OTSI’s Chief Investigator. The team is responsible for developing and implementing a data strategy to enhance OTSI’s capability to leverage and analyse data and deliver critical business intelligence to identify system-wide safety priorities, produce insights for industry, and strengthen evidence-based decision making.

The team will also develop a program of planned investigations into known risks as well as identify potential risks requiring a systemic investigation into critical safety issues.

**The opportunity**

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Data Business Intelligence Specialist to drive OTSI’s business intelligence capability, including defining and managing its analysis and reporting standards. This position develops, tests, and maintains BI reports, visualisations, user interfaces, data models, queries, and related artefacts for OTSI’s data-driven projects and initiatives.

**About you**

We are looking for an experienced Data Business professional with excellent communication skills and experience in working within complex data environments and leveraging data for business intelligence development.

Your experience in data preparation, blending, integration, and resolution of data quality issues for subsequent analysis and visualisation in industry platforms is highly regarded.

You will have a strong knowledge of visualisation design principles, standards, and best practices in addition to strong knowledge of data warehouse, data analytics, and reporting processes. Preferred experience in using PowerBI tool, Microsoft Power Platform Suite (mainly Power Apps) and SQL skills.

To succeed in this role, you will have excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to present complex information to a broad audience.

Naturally you will have strong organisation and time management skills to ensure adherence to deadlines.

**Salary and Benefits**

The salary for this position is Grade 8 ($120,423 - $134,872) per annum.
