VAGO helps to hold the Victorian Government accountable by conducting financial and performance audits and assurance reviews of public sector agencies and reporting the results to Parliament.

We are part of Victoria's integrity system. The office of ‘Auditor-General' is independent; it is not controlled or directed by Parliament or the government. Our independent audit role gives us exclusive access to our clients. **What you'll do**

The Governance and Compliance Officer is part of a collaborative team in the Office of the Auditor-General that ensures VAGO’s audit program is supported by high quality services across business and risk planning, control framework operations, and compliance monitoring and reporting. The role also provides support to our Audit and Risk Committee and internal audit function.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Governance, the Governance and Compliance Officer is a technical expert, with an eye for detail, who possesses expertise across a broad range of governance and compliance practices in a public or private sector setting.

**Other responsibilities include**
- Use your expertise to construct process improvements and improve office efficiencies.
- Bring a service focused approach when liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively collaborate with your team to problem solve and execute office initiatives.

**What you need**
- Tertiary qualifications in a field such as Business, Commerce, Governance, Accounting, Social Sciences or Public Policy.
- Experience in governance, compliance, risk and business improvement.
- Demonstrated understanding of project portfolio management methodologies and tools.
