**The Company**
Founded in 2015 on the back of the very successful “Buy a Bale” drought fundraising campaign, Rural Aid is one of the largest rural charities in Australia. The charity provides support and assistance to farmers and rural communities during times of natural disasters and supports the long-term sustainability of the agriculture sector.
Rural Aid’s vision is that farming and rural communities are safeguarded to ensure their sustainability before, during and after natural disasters with a mission to provide economic and empathetic support and assistance to rural communities impacted by natural disasters, through partnering with key stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.
**The Position**
Due to the organisation’s ongoing success, Rural aid are now looking for an Advocacy/Stakeholder Relations Manager to join their team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with the Leadership team in advocating to and influencing key stakeholders including Federal and State governments, corporate and private supporters (existing and potential) to enable Rural Aid to achieve its growth/funding objectives.
In addition, you will raise the public awareness of Rural Aid and achieve growth by creating and implementing Rural Aid’s external affairs strategy in collaboration with the CEO and identifying leads through a planned approach to corporate and government engagement. The position will provide intelligence, analysis and recommendations on emerging policy and political issues as well as engage and build relationships with key stakeholders, government, members of parliament and local communities to build a coalition of support.
**The Person**
We are keen to hear from you if you have the following background, skills and key attributes:
- Proven background in a similar role engaging in systematic advocacy and strategic management work to influence policy across government and the private sector
- Comprehensive knowledge including legislation, governance, and policy reform in at least one of the following sectors:
- o Agriculture
- o Charities or benevolent foundations
- o Disaster management
- Excellent interpersonal skills in building, maintaining and strengthening relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic thinking ability with the capacity for independent judgement
- High level and well-developed oral and written communication
- High energy levels and demonstrated capacity to self-manage with the capacity to be mobile and meet the travel demands required for the role
- Show transparency & accountability with high levels of empathy and compassion
- Experience working alongside and in support of the agricultural sector and rural communities will be highly regarded
