Superfins is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated swimming coach for its Stroke Development Squad program.
Superfins is a long-established swimming club for children and adults living with a disability. The club operates a variety of swimming squad programs at HBF Stadium in Mount Claremont with a total squad membership of 85 swimmers. Superfins is affiliated with Swimming WA, Masters Swimming WA and the WA Disabled Sports Association.
The Stroke Development Squad trains three times per week:
- Tuesday 6.15pm - 7.30pm
- Thursday 6.15pm - 7.30pm
- Saturday 9.30am - 12 noon
The successful applicant is initially required to be available to coach the Tuesday and Thursday sessions. The position reports directly to the Head Coach and remuneration is $35.50 per hour (reviewed annually).
The Stroke Development squad program at Superfins aims to:
- develop swimmers' technique across all four competitive strokes
- teach swim squad training principles and lane etiquette
- develop swimmers' racing skills (starts, turns, finishes etc)
- introduce swimmers to competition.
The duties and responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:
- delivery of swim training programs to swimmers, including dry-land component
- liaise with other coaches in developing swim training programs
- liaise with parents/carers of squad members
- attendance at pool and open water swim meets when required
- attendance at overnight weekend open water swim camps (Rottnest and Busselton)
- maintain a high level of professionalism at all times, demonstrating good communication and organisational skills.
Previous experience in relevant or similar swim coaching roles is preferred. Experience in working with people with disabilities is desirable but not required.
The following qualifications and certifications are required:
- Coaching or swim teaching qualification (AUSTSWIM or ASCTA)
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid Certificate and/or Bronze Medallion
