**About the role**

The East Arnhem Land Youth Model is an innovative and community led program, which empowers local communities to design and deliver initiatives and activities aimed at improving the wellbeing of young people in their communities.

In this role you will lead a small team supporting and building the capacity of Yolŋu Leadership Groups in the East Arnhem Land communities of Milingimbi, Ramingining, Gapuwiyak and Galiwin’ku.

The Leadership Groups oversee and approve proposals for youth initiatives, as well as managing a funding pool for each community.

This role assumes ultimate responsibility for the coordination of the program, including monitoring and evaluation, contract management and managing relationships with government and external stakeholders.

After being established in 2020, ALPA recently secured a further 5 years of funding for the program, representing an exciting opportunity to invest significantly in the capacity and wellbeing of local communities and their young people.

**_This role is based in Darwin but frequent travel to remote Indigenous communities is essential._**

**Responsibilities**
- Support the creation of Yolŋu Youth leadership groups to oversee a variety of community led youth projects
- Work with the groups to develop transparent governance arrangements that align with Yolŋu structures and values
- Provide leadership groups to with access and visibility to financial management arrangements
- Co-design and implement a community measurement, evaluation and learning framework reflecting the community’s definition of success
- Co-design and deliver a regional Yolŋu Youth Development Strategy in partnership with Yolŋu Youth leadership groups

**Skills and Experience**
- Formal qualifications in Youth Services, Community Development or similar
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking cross cultural consultation
- Demonstrated experience in program design and an understanding of design logic
- Experience delivering projects with a variety of stakeholders with competing priorities
- Effective communicator with strong oral and written skills
- Ability to work autonomously
