Exciting opportunity to join the second largest municipality in Melbourne’s metropolitan west. Located about 20 kms from the central business district, Brimbank City Council is culturally diverse.
We are currently seeking a staff member on fixed term to join our team based at our offices in **Sunshine, Victoria**. Hybrid working arrangements are currently in place.
**The role**
Reporting to the Climate Emergency Coordinator, we are seeking a Waste Education Officer who can bring their skills and experience to help move Brimbank to a circular economy, particularly through the introduction of the four-bin system which:
- Reduces material use, and recovering materials and giving them a second life
- Reduces the carbon impact of landfills and methane generation
- Limits the impacts to Melbourne’s West from landfilling activities, with its health and traffic impact on residents.
- Improves the cleanliness and amenity of the municipality.
- Provides local jobs if Brimbank embraces a role in the circular economy greater than its current
**About you**
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Degree qualifications in waste management, sustainability, environmental management, education or other related field or lesser formal qualification with substantial experience.
- Experience and/or qualifications related to sustainability behaviour change techniques.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Satisfactory completion of Working with Children Check.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence.
In accordance with our COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy, this role requires you to have received a third / booster vaccination or have an authorised medical exemption before commencing employment with us
