**The Role**

The purpose of this role is to focus on audience and content excellence. The Head of Commissioning, NITV is responsible for driving the channel’s commissioning strategy to deliver best in class content. Working closely with the General Manager, NITV and the Director of Indigenous Content, this position plays a key role in delivering content which inspires Indigenous communities and brings new audiences to linear and OnDemand.

Reporting into the General Manager within our NITV team this role will see you but not limited to:

- Leading the Commissioning team in the development of the annual slate, drive innovative thinking both internally and through external stakeholder relationships to deliver an exciting catalogue of Indigenous and award-winning content.
- Manage various talent development activities associated with new and emerging creative talent in association with other TV sector organisations.
- Present the NITV Commissions strategy at the SBS Roadshow and other Industry events.
- Engage with all areas of SBS regularly to communicate and report on the commission’s strategy and its performance.
- Support the NITV Commissioning team in their professional development through the provision of coaching, mentoring and direction. Continually improve process and performance.
- Leverage an extensive and well-established network of key Industry contacts including Indigenous producers, production companies, screenwriters, directors and distributors to ensure NITV can create and acquire the most ambitious and successful slate of programs.
- Ensure that all Content complies with SBS Codes of Practice, Editorial Guidelines and any other SBS’s initiatives, such as languages other than English.

**About you**

We are looking for someone with strong editorial leadership and a vast network of First Nations content makers. This will be invaluable in this role to drive all commissions and support premium content delivery for NITV.
- Allocate at least 30% of time to leading, developing, coaching and guiding the team to develop their strengths, and drive individual, divisional and company performance.
- As a senior member of SBS TV & Online division participate fully and engage with strategic network delivery of business unit priorities.
