Your Opportunity
**As the Payroll Consultant you will be responsible for**:
- Coordinate the day-to-day leadership of the payroll/support processing team, providing a clear escalation point for moderately complex, time sensitive matters for pay run.
- Provide accurate and timely operational advice and support to the Regions on a diverse range of payroll policies and practices, utilising the organisations human resource information system (Aurion)
This position reports to the Team Leader, Payroll.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity, unless otherwise determined.
This position offers working from home arrangements and flexible TAFE Queensland Campus locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice to senior managers and regions on a broad range of payroll activities, policies, procedures, and systems queries.
- Assist in the development and implementation of initiatives and operational strategies for the effective and efficient delivery of payroll services.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, directives and policies that impact on payroll administration services.
- Lead and participate in human resource and/or payroll management projects, partnering with key stakeholders on the design and implementation of organisational change activities.
- Monitor contemporary human resource information management practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, enhancing systems and processes leading to process and productivity improvement.
- Monitor workload across the payroll processing team, to ensure appropriate resourcing to deliver optimum service delivery.
- Provide advice to and coordinate the operations of the payroll processing team, utilising the organisations human resource information system (Aurion).
- Coordinate the identification of the training and developmental needs for the payroll processing team.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage task and project progress and timing to ensure the timely delivery of outcomes.
- Proactively foster a team culture that emphasises quality customer service, values data accuracy and integrity, and actively seeks continuous improvement opportunities.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

- Proven ability providing high level advice on payroll processing activities, with an ability to resolve moderately complex escalations from the team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, awards, policies and procedures for a payroll function.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake human resource and payroll management project activities, achieving outcomes for the business unit.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, consult and negotiate with staff at all levels, and with external agencies, service providers and clients.
- Proven strengths in decision making in complex and time pressured environment.
Highly Desirable Requirements
- Experience in the Human Resource Information System (Aurion)
