**About The Role**:
The Drilling Specialist will oversee drilling contractors to ensure they are compliant with WHS standards, to ensure they comply with our MinRes Drilling Standard, whilst also meeting their contractual obligations and key performance indicators.

For this position you be collaborating with Geologist, Field technicians and relevant contractors to provide knowledge and expertise regarding drilling operations to support our MinRes drilling activities. You will be the key driver with maximising our drilling contractor’s performance to achieve the company's goals in identifying and evaluating new deposits and developing current known deposits.

This position will be hands on position reporting directly to our Manager of Contract and Compliance for Project Development Operations. For this role you will predominantly be located at our HQ Office in Osborne Park and occasionally travel to site to assist with our Project Services drilling activities as the business requires.

**Key deliverables**
- Provide technical support to internal key stakeholders across a range of drilling disciplines such as Reverse Circulation, Diamond Drilling and Waterwell Drilling
- Provide support to various drilling programs across MinRes projects including Reverse Circulation Grade Control, Resourse Definition, Brownfields and Greenfields Exploration
- Manage, oversee and/or conduct routine safety audits and inspections on drilling contractors equipment and work areas
- Manage, oversee and/or conduct pre-mobilisation inspections of drilling equipment.
- Provide regular feedback with drilling contractors performance relating to safety, productivity, and other key performance indicators.
- Manage and oversee the streamlining and improvement of the relationship between MinRes and, existing and potential drilling contractors.
- Engage with drilling contractors to help maximise output and performance while reducing operational costs.
- Liaise with safety personnel to ensure safety system compliance of drilling contractors.
- Provide guidance to Project Services management and other staff on a range of drilling practices and techniques.
- Oversee validation of daily drill plod submissions from drilling contractors to ensure accuracy and compliance to the relevant contract.
- Contribute to daily pre-shift meetings, handovers, and weekly safety toolbox meetings when on site.
- Participate and provide insight into incident investigations.
- Play an active role in verifying drilling contractors’ compliance to QAQC.
- Participate in and facilitate risk analysis meetings such as HAZIDs.
- Assisting with the negotiation and implementation of drilling contracts.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and manage to responsibilities of all direct reports (Drilling Coordinator, Drilling Advisor)

**What you’ll bring to the team**:

- Minimum 10 years’ experience in drilling industry
- Strong leadership experience and/or exposure to managing drilling contractors.
- A proactive approach with outstanding interpersonal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask independently.
- Excellent time management and work planning skills
- Computer literate, experienced in the use of Microsoft suite
- Provide First Aid
- Operation and recovery of a 4WD

- Relevant qualification in drilling operations
- ICAM incident investigation
- Work Health and Safety qualification
- High Risk Work licences
- Training and Assessing qualification
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Understanding of mining operations (open pit, underground and exploration)
