The Finance Officer - Accounts Payable is responsible for the accurate and timely payment of our creditors,including checking of accounts and their timely payment.
**About the role**:
- coordinates and monitors all matters relating to the accounts payable section
- supervisors and monitors work practices and time management of staff within the accounts payable section
- processes monthly and weekly accounts and reconciles weekly creditors statements.
- liaises with creditors regarding accounts payable matters.

**We are seeking**:
- experience and understanding of accounting concepts and principles
- extensive knowledge of GST related matters within accounts payable
- competence in the reconciliation of statements.

**Essential**:
- Numeracy and literacy levels usually associated with Higher School Certificate.
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts and principles.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of Council’s software systems, in particular Finance One and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge of GST related matters within Accounts Payable.
- Demonstrated competent data entry skills.
- Well-developed Communication skills, including complex complaints and conflicts.
- Demonstrated competence in the reconciliation of statements.
- Demonstrated understanding of quality customer service skills.
**Desirable**:
- Certificate in Accounting.
- Demonstrated accuracy in financial record keeping.
- Competence in staff supervision.
