**Your new role**
You will be responsible for the day to day garden maintenance of the facilities. In this role you will need to demonstrate and utilise your strong understanding and experience of grounds maintenance, including; mowing, edging, pruning, planting, mulching, fertilising and reticulation. You will be required to use ride on mowers, hedge trimmers and other relevant tools/equipment.

**Duties**:

- Be able to identify plants and disease and manage them
- Understanding of irrigation services, installation and maintenance.
- Maintenance of shrub borders including pruning and weeding
- Maintenance of herbaceous borders including weeding, staking, pruning and replanting as required and mulching
- Planting up, feeding watering and staking high grade tender perennial borders and displays for which the college is known
- Planting up winter features ;Leaf-clearing and litter-picking
- Carrying out basic arboricultural activities, stacking the woody waste pile and chipping woody waste
- Greenhouse and nursery practices including seed sowing, watering, propagation and potting especially the tender perennials and winter bedding and glasshouse cleaning
- Work with the owner to undertake and complete weekly, monthly and annual work plans.
- Implement sound horticultural strategies and techniques in the form of plant cultivation, plant identification, pruning, weed control, turf management, soil management, irrigation and horticultural machinery use and maintenance.
- Maintenance of Grounds
- Participate in the oversight, guidance and development of apprentices, volunteers and interns as applicable.

To achieve the purpose of the position, the following attributes are required:

- An Advanced Certificate in Horticulture or Certificate IV in Horticulture is essential. A diploma or degree in horticulture is desirable.
- Experience working in a professional horticultural environment is essential. Experience working in a public/ large garden or nursery is desirable.
- Demonstrated strong horticultural knowledge and plant identification skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a team environment.
- Good communications skills and interpersonal skills.
- Great with people and establishing relationships with clients

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
