The Capital Projects Officer - Security Projects roles are responsible for supporting the delivery of physical security capital works projects as part of the department’s annual Property Capital Works Program. These projects support the delivery of an efficient, secure, safe and sustainable property portfolio for the department. The role would suit someone with experience in physical security, capital works project delivery, contract management, and stakeholder engagement.

**Who we are**
The Property and Security Branch is responsible for enhancing the department’s business capability through the effective management of the department’s property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.

The Protective Security team manages the department’s governance and physical security capabilities (excluding personnel and information security), including compliance reporting.

**The Job**
- Support the development of the annual Security Capital Works Program, including funding bids, cost forecasting, delivery progress tracking and reporting.
- Support the delivery of multiple physical security capital works projects to time, budget and in alignment with stakeholder requirements, including undertaking risk assessments and mitigations where required.
- Engage and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring physical security projects are appropriately identified, scoped and delivered.
- Actively participate in relevant governance meetings that support the delivery of property capital works projects.
- Manage transition and handover of physical security capital works project to business-as-usual management activities.
- Provide issue resolution and communication for internal and external stakeholders, and escalate issues that may have a wider departmental impact on staff or business continuity.
- Provide leadership to staff, including coaching, capability development and problem solving.

- The Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
- The Commonwealth Property Management Framework.
- Legislation and industry standards relating to property and security, particularly the Building Codes of Australia.
