Niche Fish Pty Ltd has been operating since 1996. We provide fresh seafood and fish sourced daily from the Sydney Fish Market auction floors and other seafood wholesalers for sale to retail customers and corporate customers such as restaurants and other small businesses.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

To select and purchase whole fish, fillets, shellfish, frozen products and other seafood for retail sales and fulfilment of orders from our corporate customers and other small businesses.

Main Duties
- Attend auction floors at the Sydney Fish Market on a daily basis to purchase fish and seafood products based on orders.
- Checking auction floors for daily catch/fresh products which are available
- Ensure quality of products to be purchased
- Keeping track of purchases from different suppliers on the auction floor to ensure best prices
- Research on pricing of products from various suppliers on auction floors
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to secure reliable, high-quality supply lines
- Negotiate process, orders and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Manage the purchasing process with other seafood wholesalers/suppliers to maximise profitability
- Ensure delivery process meets with the Work and Health Safety Act
- Maintain record of purchase data and stock levels at all times
- Making decisions on purchase of seafood products based on demand and availability
- Explore product availability from auction floors as well as seafood wholesalers/suppliers for fresh and frozen products

About You

A relevant qualification in management is highly regarded.

Previous experience as a retail buyer and familiarity with wholesale trends, supplier management and inventory control is preferred

Considerable experience in auction floor attendance

Proven experience as retail buyer on auction floors with speciality in seafood products

Strong negotiation and communication Skills

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
