About the JCTS
Joint Colleges Training Services Pty Ltd (JCTS) is a joint venture of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (the RACGP). JCTS will enable RACGP and ACRRM to deliver shared GP training activities for the Colleges’ respective fellowship training programs and includes the development and delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health strategic plans, cultural education and cultural mentorship, the provision of registrar housing in some remote Northern Territory and communities and other potential areas of collaboration.
About you
As our Medical Educator, you’ll be a registered medical practitioner AHPRA with fellowship to a generalist medical College. Your significant knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care, along with your demonstrated experience in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander health and supervision of registrars, will ensure your ability to maintain established relationships within this community. Your passion and commitment to the development of regionally-based medical education initiatives to meet priority community needs will be paramount. To thrive in this role, you’ll have:
high level cultural safety and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
substantial experience in the provision of clinical care in a general practice setting with experience in teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education.
demonstrable inter-personal and people management skills with experience in relating to a range of stakeholders.
Professional indemnity insurance (and be able to provide evidence of) as required by AHPRA and comprehensive motor vehicle insurance for market value for vehicles to be used in providing the remote supervision service.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Medical Educator, SA, you’ll assist in the development, delivery, review and evaluation of cultural education workshops, including a clinical education component, and mentorship programs and induction/orientation for GP Registrars in accordance with JCTS’ strategic plan. With the support of the cultural education team, you’ll also assist GP Registrars with their individual cultural learning plans and GP Supervisors regarding the cultural education aspects of the GP Training program as required by RACGP and ACRRM. Some additional responsibilities will include:
provide valuable feedback and progress reports to GP Registrars and Supervisors and the cultural education team as required.
coordinate and/or perform Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health and cultural education External Clinical Teaching (ECT) visits with the support of the cultural education team.
contribute to the development of a collaborative cultural education and mentorship program relevant to rural, remote and generalist medicine and health.
provide leadership and direction to the regional JCTS team to build capability and skills to best support GP Registrars, Supervisors and Practices and ensure through your leadership approach that an inclusive working environment & culture thrives within JCTS that focuses on outcomes for our employees that improve engagement, retention, development and productivity.
