**About A/Prof Muhammad Alamgeer**
A/Prof Muhammad Alamgeer is a Medical Oncologist and clinical researcher specialising in solid tumours. He completed his basic medical training in UK and his training in medical oncology with the Royal Australian College of Physicians. He subsequently completed a doctorate degree at Monash University, where his area of research was cancer stem cells. A/ Prof Alamgeer is experienced in managing patients with a wide range of tumours. He is a visiting medical oncologist at Monash Health, where he leads Lung, Head and Neck and Skin Cancer Streams. He was instrumental in establishing the Head and Neck and Melanoma clinics at Monash and in collaboration with his surgical and radiation oncology colleagues established multidisciplinary team meetings. He is a keen researcher and is an investigator on a large number of clinical trials in at Monash and PASO. Several trials he was involved in resulted in change of practice. He plays a major role in several stages of clinical trial conduct, including protocol development, investigator meetings, patient recruitment and management on trials, safety and steering committee involvement. In addition to this he has held clinical associate position at the Centre for Cancer Research at The Hudson Institute and has been collaborating with research groups on various pre-clinical projects, with a focus on bio-marker discovery. He received research grants for his research projects in Mesothelioma where he is investigating transcriptomic changes in tumour microenvironment in response to immunotherapy. His research has led to scholarly publications in top tier journals and has so far resulted in over 40 peer review publications. Several other collaborative projects are being conducted at various stages. A/Prof. Alamgeer is an active member of the Thoracic Oncology Group of Australia (TOGA), the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He also chairs Cancer Trials Australia, Lung Cancer group.
**The Role**
**Key Responsibilities**
- First point of contact for patients either face to face or over the phone.
- Liaising with patients, internal and external stakeholders. Handling account queries
- Following up on unpaid accounts, Billing, Communicate with insurance providers to verify coverage and resolve billing issues.
- Organising Meetings, Data Entry
- Database Management
- Book and queue patients, conflict resolution
- Assist patients and third parties with enquiries.
- General Administrative Tasks
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy guidelines are followed when dealing with patient information.
- Provide administration services.
- Advise Team Lead if the Centre is not stocked and in running order.
- Ensure patients are booked in, paperwork is completed.
- Invoicing, Scanning, batching, recalls of patients.
- Answering calls, faxing, photo copying, mail distribution, compiling and transferring patient files, and Work Cover administration.
- Open centre and prepare for the day.
- Close centre and attend to general housekeeping.
- Ensure reception area is always clean and presentable.
- Attention to detail
- A sound level of competency in the use of computers, including Microsoft Office packages
- A sound level of competency in the use of Genie and Clinic to Cloud (Preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to prioritise and organise workflow effectively
- Excellent Telephone Manner
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Must be results oriented, multi-tasking, quick learner, respond to the urgent needs of the team and show a strong track record of meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality, including the secure storage and handling of confidential information
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well and flexibly ie autonomously, in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments
- Previous experience in a medical practice preferred
**Salary**: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
