**About the Opportunity**
As part of the City Shaping Program, the Aboriginal Ranger (Program Coordinator) will lead the development and implementation of an Aboriginal Ranger program for the Adelaide Park Lands. Collaborating closely with the Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation (KYAC) and the Manager, Park Lands and Sustainability, this role will focus on embedding cultural knowledge and practices into Healthy Country Planning processes and operational work plans.
This position is integral to advancing natural and cultural resource management in the Adelaide Park Lands. It combines traditional knowledge with modern practices to achieve positive environmental, cultural, and social outcomes. The role supports the participation of Rangers of all genders in culturally inclusive work practices and fosters collaboration with Aboriginal Community Groups, KYAC, and other stakeholders to ensure the program thrives.
The role is also responsible for fostering partnerships with Aboriginal community groups, key stakeholders, and government and non-government organizations to deliver collaborative outcomes. You will contribute to reconciliation efforts, strengthen cultural leadership within the City, and ensure that cultural and environmental stewardship remains at the heart of the Park Lands' future.
**Eligibility**
Cultural knowledge and lived experience is key in succeeding and delivering this role effectively, therefore it is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The filing of this role is intended to constitute a special measure under s 8(1) of the _Racial Discrimination Act 1975_ (Cth), and s 56(2) _Equal Opportunity Act 1984_ (SA).

**About You**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture and connection with Country, or ability to quickly acquire.
- Specific knowledge of the Kaurna community, culture and connection with Country, will be highly regarded.
- Current, best practice knowledge of cultural heritage, conservation land management practices.
- Experience in providing cultural advice and solutions to a range of land management issues, including:
- Managing urban parks.
- Wildlife.
- Karrawirra Pari, wetlands and watercourses.
- Management of invasive plants and animals and restoration of damaged habitats.
- Experience in program development and implementation.
- Experience in providing cultural leadership, advice and solutions on a range of on-ground and cultural resources management issues.
- Experience in communicating with senior management on a range of sensitive issues.
