ACE Laboratory Services (part of Apiam Animal Health) is looking for a Trainee Laboratory Assistant to join their team in East Bendigo on a full-time basis.

**To be selected for this role you must be eligible and** **willing to complete the relevant Cert III and IV tertiary training.**

**Duties (under supervision of qualified personnel)**
- Perform basic laboratory tasks under limited supervision
- Perform sample pick-ups from local veterinary clinics
- Perform sample receipt and data entry
- Answer client enquiries regarding sample receipt, transport and referral.
- Carry out experimental procedures such as analysing samples and monitoring processes
- Carry out appropriate initial set up procedures in the laboratory
- Maintain records of laboratory accessions and test results
- Maintain stocks of laboratory consumables
- Maintain laboratory equipment in a clean serviceable condition
- Decontaminate the laboratory benches and equipment on a regular basis and maintain the laboratory as a safe working environment
- General house keeping
- Prepare reporting templates

**To be successful you possess the following skills and abilities**:

- Demonstrated time management skills
- Ability to work under supervision in a team environment
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to perform written and verbal reporting of results to more senior staff and to clients
- Understand the procedures for the safe handling of microbiologically and chemically hazardous materials
- Skills with Microsoft Word and Excel Applications would be an advantage
- Available to work weekends
- A driver’s licence is required
