Disability Support Worker

CODA Disability Support was established in 1989 and is an NDIS registered, not-for-profit organisation that provides Personal Care, In-Home Respite and Community Access supports to adults with a disability who live in the community. Our office is based in Upper Mount Gravatt; however we provide supports to people in the extended Brisbane area including Brisbane Bayside and Southside suburbs.

We currently have an opportunity for **Disability Support Workers** to join our vibrant, hardworking and committed team on a casual basis, supporting a male client based in **Raceview **up to **10 hours per week. **This role is perfect for university students looking for work before or after study, with other clients in the local area that may have additional shifts available to meet your desired roster hours.

**Who will I be supporting?**

The client is a very easy-going and social male in his late 20's, who requires a comprehensive and attentive support worker to assist him in getting ready for his day and again in the evenings. With Spina Bifida, he has a power wheelchair to assist with his movements and is a smart young man, extremely capable directing his own supports. Supporting the Cronulla Sharks, he is a huge Rugby League and sports fan, coupled with a keen interest in food.

The client lives with his father in their family home in Raceview, and requires 1 support worker of a morning, and 2 support workers of an evening. Supports involve getting him out of bed with the use of a hoist, and preparing him for the day/night including personal care and meal preparation. The client, at times, attends day outings and may need to be ready early of a morning. Supports for our client involves the use of a hoist.

**We are looking for someone who has**:

- Experience working as a Disability Support Worker or related field (desirable).
- A passion to support people living with a disability.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and resilience skills.
- Full understanding of professional boundaries.
- Experience in personal care and hoisting is required.

**To be successful in the role, you will have**:

- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Card / Yellow Card (or willingness to obtain)
- 2 doses of approved COVID-19 vaccination
- Current QLD Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- _Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Disability, or Community Services (or related field). Nursing students are encouraged to apply._
