Head Gardener

Part Time Gardener for Geelong - WWCC Required

Hays Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified gardener to join a local Geelong school on a part-time basis to maintain and enhance a school's gardens and outdoor spaces.

**Your new role**

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Maintain and care for the school's gardens, lawns, flowerbeds, and outdoor spaces.
- Perform tasks such as planting, watering, weeding, and pruning to ensure the gardens are well-maintained and visually appealing.
- Monitor and manage the health of plants, identifying and treating as needed.
- Assist in the selection and procurement of plants, flowers, and garden supplies.
- Collaborate with the school's staff and students to incorporate educational and sustainable gardening practices.
- Maintain gardening equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean, organised, and in good working condition.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines while working in the school premises.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Qualified Gardener or Horticulturist
- Previous experience as a school gardener or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of plants, flowers, and gardening techniques suitable for the local climate.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to gardening, including lifting, bending, and operating gardening tools.
- Passion for gardening and a strong eye for detail
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with school staff and students.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely completion of gardening tasks.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one before starting the position.
