**About the role**:
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that procurement activities align with the Council’s objectives while monitoring compliance and risk to maintain smooth and effective service delivery.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the purchasing process by auditing key areas such as Purchase Orders and Credit Card transactions. The main responsibility will be to review transaction histories, identify discrepancies, and ensure that all activities align with the organisation's policies and procedures. An essential aspect of the role will be the ability to not only collect data but also analyse it to uncover any potential non-compliance, fraudulent activities, or opportunities to save on costs. Through effective data analysis, you will provide valuable insights that help strengthen internal controls, reduce risks, and drive overall improvements in the procurement process.
Building strong relationships with stakeholders within Wyndham will be essential for successfully implementing audit recommendations and ensuring that audit actions are closed off effectively. **What your day will look like**
- Review transaction histories to ensure all purchases comply with organisational policies and procedures.
- Investigate any inconsistencies or irregularities in purchasing transactions, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Organise and input data (Purchase Orders, Credit Card transactions, etc.) into dashboards for easy visualization and tracking.
- Work closely with the Procurement Quality Assurance & Risk Advisor as well as the Procurement Manager.
**What you will bring**
- Degree or diploma course in Procurement, Business or Administration or other relevant discipline with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience of working in a comparable procurement function.
- Demonstrated experience working in / or good knowledge of probity practices, audit, compliance, controls and assurance.
- Experience working in local government or other levels of government is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent customer service skills with a ‘can-do’ attitude where you understand your customers’ needs and procurement requirements
