Overview:
The Chemical and Environmental Hazards team protects and promotes public health by conducting human health risk assessments of exposures to chemical and environmental hazards. We do this by:

- Providing consultancy and authoritative public health advice.
- Working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Implementing and managing state-wide programs.
- Developing public health policies.
- Undertaking investigations and complex projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the newly established Chemical and Environmental Hazards team within the Public Health Division. In this role you will:

- Influence the strategic priorities for the team and shape the delivery of key public health functions, services and programs into the future.
- Provide expert professional consultancy and authoritative advice to state, local and commonwealth government stakeholders, research organisations and industry groups.
- Be a leader who prioritises workloads and professionally develops multi-disciplinary team members in the delivery of complex projects and programs, critical incidents and major exposure investigations.

They will also have skills and experience in areas such as human health risk assessment, toxicology, chemical exposure, chemical scheduling and regulation, product safety and poisoning prevention.

**Criminal History Screening Requirement**
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

**Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (mínimal patient contact)**

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

**Special Conditions**
- An appropriate degree in science, e.g. clinical pharmacology, chemistry, toxicology, environmental health or related discipline.
- The incumbent will be required to work after hours, including weekends, and intrastate and interstate travel will be required.
