Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Purpose of the role
The Fleet Operations team leads fleet mechanical services, providing repairs, maintenance and scheduled vehicle inspections to meet regulatory requirements that ensure fit for purpose heavy, light and medium commercial fleet vehicles and associated equipment to all members of QFES. Through the full lifecycle management and best practice approach for fleet and equipment service planning and scheduling of maintenance and repairs, we ensure all assets and equipment are managed strategically and maintained to meet the complex environment in which they are deployed and utilised, and to meet operational capability and organisational objectives.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the fleet planning and scheduling activities to meet the Fleet's servicing and maintenance requirements across the state in coordination with the mechanical and service operations. You will work closely with key stakeholders and workshop supervisors in the development and implementation of the efficient and effective servicing and maintenance planning of the QFES fleet to reduce reactive maintenance activities and maintain fleet assets, whilst ensuring all Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) services requirements are met and comply with all regulatory standards to support operational capability of the organisation.

- Experience with fleet planning and scheduling to ensure optimum servicing requirements of the fleet to maintain operability.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for fleet compliance (e.g. Certification of Inspection, National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) requirement and all other regulatory and safety standards).
- Experience with using Fleet Management and Maintenance Systems and/or project scheduling software to manage planning and scheduling activities.

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective planning and scheduling management system/s and activities to improve efficiencies in the fleet mechanical and maintenance operations.
- Oversee and coordinate resource support (e.g. staffing; financial; parts and components) to meet the forecast and planned work programs that support servicing and mechanical operations aligned to supply contracts.
- Plan and schedule according to the highest priority work orders with internal mechanical team to ensure they are effectively managed, and relevant records and systems are maintained to meet effective service delivery and compliance obligations.
- Consult with key internal stakeholders, workshop supervisors, and management to plan and coordinate servicing and maintenance activities across the state, and ensure services are performed as planned.
- Monitor servicing requirements across the regions and state fleet workshop operations, and report on maintenance scheduling status and/or impacts and provide recommendation for continuous improvement.
- Schedule the maximum number of services and planned maintenance activities, manage faults and reactive maintenance planning, across the fleet in support of workshop operations, ensuring service/maintenance plans are aligned to OEM and operational requirements.
- Identify and coordinate the use of OEM and Non-OEM Suppliers of mechanical servicing and repairs (planned and unplanned) to manage workloads beyond capacity of operations to maintain servicing schedules and ensure high service quality outcomes.
- Ensure maintenance of fleet complies with all relevant regulatory requirements, codes and standards, and the NHVR aligned maintenance manual and safety management system to ensure QFES fleet condition, safety and presentation meet operational capability requirements.
