**About the role**
The Asset Management Unit is at the heart of the City’s infrastructure, driving the strategic management of a dynamic $4.1 billion asset portfolio. This powerhouse team keeps vital networks running smoothly through everything from maintaining the Asset Register to conducting inspections and crafting cutting-edge asset management plans. In this role, you’ll play an integral part in managing key asset data, preparing crucial valuations, and providing expert insights that keep the Asset Accounting function on track. With your attention to detail and strategic support, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the Unit’s success and making a lasting impact on the City's future.

Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to accurate maintenance of Council asset registers, specifically consistent unit rates, useful lives.
- Continual improvement of data and process for Asset Valuation, namely centralization of corporate unit rates and useful lives.
- Project manage revaluation of asset categories according to timetable as specified in the Asset Accounting policy.
- Complete update of valuations into the asset register and provide reports on the accounting implications of the revaluations to executive management (ELT) and the audit and risk committee.
- Develop, maintain and ensure continuous improvement of asset system, e.g. tables, asset hierarchy / structures, procedures, testing of software upgrades, interfaces, reporting, forecasting, etc.
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification or current study towards completion of an Asset Management or Commerce / Accounting degree or diploma plus several years’ experience in local government asset management / asset accounting. In addition, you will have:
- Knowledge and understanding of asset management systems / principles.
- Proficient in the use of Asset Management Systems and asset valuation within them.
- Experience in local government or large public sector organisation
- Ability to prepare accurate and timely asset reports.
- Ability to liaise and gain the cooperation of staff across the organisation to maintain an accurate asset register on a timely basis.
- Experience in asset accounting principles and procedures and requirements.
- Experience with asset revaluations.
- Sound financial reconciliations skills.
