The Regulatory & Controls Operations (RACO) team is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the Groups financial crime shared services. FCO leads the Groups approach to managing AML/CTF, and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provisioning of the following services.
The work undertaken by Global Client Onboarding enables our Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) and Financial Crimes Compliance teams to make risk-based decisions and helps to ensure CBA meets regulatory obligations in Australia and globally. Our key activities include:
- Creating and maintaining of our clients’ KYC and regulatory profiles.
- Maintaining an ongoing customer due diligence program to ensure IB&M meets KYC periodic review objectives.
- Completing/reviewing KYC risk assessments by undertaking due diligence procedures, identification and dispositioning of PEPs, material negative news and sanctions assessments.
- Ensuring appropriate escalations to Financial Crime Compliance and relationship bankers.
- Implementing new/changed regulatory requirements driven by the changing regulations and policy landscape.
- Maintaining a robust and well documented control environment that is audit ready

The role of the SME Manager will require you to multitask across various functions and streams. You will assist our people, and play a part in uplifting capability and processes within the business. You will play a key role in effectively graduating new starters into the business as part of RACO’s graduation framework and drive strategic initiative from design through to deployment
This role requires engagement with internal team member and managers within the bank.
You will report directly to the Senior Managers for GCO

- What a day in your role will look like_
- Manage a small team of PoRs ensuring they work collaboratively with the multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for the development and growth of your team.
- You will be responsible for providing input into internal and external audits.
- You will be the final point of contact to train and coach the GCO teams both locally and globally on all technical aspects of the GCDD standards in line with the Business Unit Operating Procedures
- You will be responsible for updating the Standard Operating Procedures and guidance documentation, ensuring they are compliant and in line with IB&M Group Policy and Change and Governance rules.
- You will be required to assist with mapping end to end processes within GCO as required off the back of changes.
- You will be required to demonstrate the Standard Operating Procedures reflect current practise whilst maintaining version control
- You will be required to escalate directly to senior management identification of risks/issues within the team/business, as well as ensure the changes adopted by team do not introduce additional operational risk to GCO.
- You will work closely with the Control Tower and the change enablement team to ensure we have a clear roadmap of the upcoming changes and their potential impact to the overall processes.
- You will be required to ensure the skills matrix maintained within GCO across the teams is consistent and regularly updated.
- Work collaboratively with the training team to deliver change and to ensure the induction training content is current.
- You will handle queries efficiently and effectively, always acting in line with the Groups Values and the Code of Conduct.
- You will be responsible for building effective relationships with all employees, including all stakeholders at all times.
- You will be responsible for providing insights on all quality assurance issues as and when they arise and working collectively across the footprint to improve GCO’s quality assurance results.
- You will look for thematics across the QA findings and put together action plan for reduction of both critical and non-critical errors across GCO globally
- You will monitor quality assurance rework and effectively coach your peers to improve their capability based on your technical ability
- You will be required to champion a continuous improvement mindset within GCO and encourage others to look for new opportunities to further optimise, challenge or streamline current processes
- You will be available to perform business verification testing on new or existing processes, rules as required by the business, this will also include user acceptance testing and post implementation feedback.
