Drake Recruitment are looking for a reliable and flexible kennel attendant with experience in caring for working dogs for one of our clients located at Perth Airport.

Our client's detector dogs make an invaluable contribution to Australia's biosecurity system, helping to protect Australia from exotic pests and diseases. Detector dogs are used in conjunction with several other biosecurity strategies and detection tools to help protect Australia's agricultural industries, environment, economy and human health. The detector dog teams are deployed across a variety of locations including international passenger terminals, seaports and mail facilities.

Role Details:

- Casual contract role
- Rotating 7-day roster
- 37.5 hours per week
- ASAP Start

Role Responsibilities and Outputs can include (but are not limited to):

- Cleaning kennels and yards
- Observe and report on health and/or behavioural abnormalities in our dogs
- Exercise dogs by providing a range of suitable activities such as walking and other enrichment activities as directed.
- K9 Health Checks: wash, nail clipping, ear cleaning, administer oral medications
- Maintain kennel records and update spreadsheets. Experience using Microsoft software is required
- Monitor and report on the facility's general maintenance requirements. Escalate as required.
- Stock control, obtaining quotes and placing orders, collecting goods, and reconciling expenses.
- Supervise external contractors at the facility.
- Attend monthly team meetings

Skills, Capabilities and Mindset:

- Required:

- Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Experience handling and caring for dogs preferably in a kennel environment.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of canine behaviour and interaction
- Excellent self-driven communication that compliments a shift-work team with a changing roster
- Ability to work unsupervised including being self-motivated and content to work alone.
- Strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong teamwork skills
- Current Driver's License
- Own Hi-Vis PPE including Steel Toed Boots
