Woolpack Corner Pty Ltd is seeking a full time Meat Inspector with the right attitude and skills with at least 3 years of relevant experience and a minimum of a relevant qualification. Salary of $75,000- $ 80,000 + super for this full-time position. We prefer someone with experience in the meat industry and has considerable experience in working in a fast-paced job.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Undertake daily ante mortem inspection of animals prior to slaughter.
- Undertake daily hygiene inspection of the abattoir as required.
- Advise the Foreman to correct any problems associated with compliance of operational procedures in accordance with Department of Health requirements.
- Collect, package and forward samples as required.
- Undertake postmortem inspection of carcasses, in accordance with Department of Health standards.
- Inspect animal carcasses and meat processing facility to ensure compliance.
- Ensure carcasses are correctly and clearly branded.
- Undertake surveillance for correct carcass separation in chillers.
- Undertake surveillance on trucks used for the transportation of chilled carcasses and proper loading of trucks.
- Ensure condemned carcasses or parts thereof are properly removed and cannot be used for human consumption, in accordance with Department of Health standards. Accurately record abattoir statistics as in regard to numbers and types of animals killed, record numbers of carcasses and offal condemned.
- Advising on the identification of pests and diseases and on regulations pertaining to grading, packing and loading of products

**Qualifications**:

- Australian-earned (or equivalent) certificate.

**Experience Requirement**:

- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in the meat industry highly preferred

**Essential Skills and Attributes**:

- Safety-conscious approach
- Good practical butchery skills and hand-eye coordination
- Attention to detail and dexterity
- Good knowledge of the product (where it comes from and the “story” behind it)
- Reasonable level of physical strength and stamina
- Excellent personal hygiene and cleanliness

**Abilities/Attributes**:

- Excellent customer service skills including strong communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise work during peak periods
- Reliability and initiative
- Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations in Victoria
