- What’s the job?
- The primary role of the Laboratory Assistant is to support the Laboratory Coordinator and the Laboratory team to ensure that they can perform their duties effectively. The Laboratory Assistant works under the line management of the National Laboratory Manager and day-to-day supervision of a Laboratory Coordinator. The Laboratory Assistant helps to improve the efficiency of the organization by enhancing the productivity of the Laboratory Coordinator and of the specialist teaching laboratories. This allows the Laboratory Coordinator and others in the Laboratory Team to focus on other core tasks, while the Laboratory Assistant takes care of more menial tasks and other responsibilities associated with preparing laboratory-based teaching sessions and spaces.
- Day-to-day accountabilities:
- Working closely with the Laboratory Coordinator, National Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Technician and Academic staff:
- ensure stocks of teaching materials are maintained- class set up for simulations and assessments- printing of learning materials, as required- cleaning, refilling, relabelling and restocking of equipment / consumables- recycling of suitable equipment- ensuring laboratory spaces are clean and tidy- other duties as determined on a case-by-case basis
This is a casual position based at the Wakefield campus in Adelaide, requiring approximately 12 hours per week across 2 to 3 shifts. We’re seeking someone with flexibility throughout the week, as you may be asked to cover additional shifts when needed.
