At Transgrid, we play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to millions of Australians. Operating over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, we connect electricity generators to the distribution network—powering homes, businesses, and communities.
As the energy sector evolves, we’re growing our workforce to drive innovation and transformation.
**The Opportunity**
This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to lead a team of field professionals responsible for delivering critical maintenance and construction work programs across Transgrid’s transmission network.
As a Field Manager, you’ll provide leadership, structure, and operational oversight to ensure work is delivered safely on time, and to specification. You’ll be accountable for managing people and performance, driving continuous improvement, and building technical capability within your team.
You will play a key role in connecting strategy to execution; supporting planning, influencing operational decisions, and helping shape how field operations are delivered safely and effectively across NSW.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Field Coordinators and Technicians to deliver quality outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and operational performance.
- Oversee program delivery to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
- Build workforce capability and technical proficiency through coaching and targeted development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Operations, Planning, and Engineering to align work programs.
**A Day in the Life as a Field Manager at Transgrid**
Every day brings a mix of leadership, coordination, and problem-solving. You’ll spend time in the field guiding your teams, managing priorities, and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of work. You’ll be both a coach and a decision-maker
In this role, you will:
- Provide visible leadership across field sites, reinforcing Transgrid’s safety-first culture.
- Partner with technical experts and schedulers to optimise delivery and resource allocation.
- Analyse work performance and implement lessons learnt to enhance delivery efficiency.
- Build relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and community partners to maintain trust.
- Ensure work complies with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
**About You**
You’re a people leader who thrives in operational environments. You take pride in your team’s success, combining practical field knowledge with a proactive approach to leadership and improvement. You’re decisive, collaborative, and committed to safety, integrity, and accountability.
**You will bring**:
- Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in a technical or engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience managing field operations or large-scale maintenance programs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate others.
- Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and operational performance.
- Confidence in using ERP, Power BI, and digital systems to inform decision-making.
**Leadership at Transgrid**
At Transgrid, leadership is about how we inspire, connect, and deliver, not just what we achieve. Our leaders are trusted to make decisions with courage, lead with purpose, and bring clarity to complex challenges.
As a Field Manager, you’ll exemplify our Leadership Principles by guiding your team through change, fostering collaboration, and ensuring every decision reflects care and accountability.
**We lead through**:
- Courage - We speak up, make bold decisions, and own our results.
- Clarity - We set clear expectations and communicate with intent.
- Connection - We build strong relationships and empower our teams to succeed.
- Care - We prioritise safety, inclusion, and wellbeing in everything we do.
**Benefits & Perks**
At Transgrid, we empower our people with a well-rounded benefits package designed to support their personal, professional, and social well-being, helping them deliver their best work every day. Employees have access to a range of corporate discounts across retail, utilities, travel, health & wellbeing etc., as well as novated leasing options, workplace flexibility, 20 weeks paid parental leave and more.
