The Centre has been an MRFF grant targeting informatics solutions for medication management reviews in residential aged care. This project aims to demonstrate how IT systems can close the loop on timely communication regarding the medication review process and progress with facility staff, GPs, and residents and their carers. Additionally, we aim to identify residents most at risk of adverse medication outcomes and hence in need of a medication review. The intervention will be evaluated using a cluster randomised controlled trial, with a process evaluation and cost-effectiveness study, using mixed methods. The project partners include a large digital solution vendor (BESTMED), the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, Consumers Health Forum Australia, Heritage Care, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, and the Aged Care Industry Information Technology Council.- Support or lead the project or specific components of the project, including data management- Undertake research to design and assess an intervention to provide residents/families/carers with real-time notification of medication changes.- Participate in the review of literature and preparation of research manuscripts, presentations and reports- Engage with project partners and consumers
About You
We are seeking talented, enthusiastic researchers, with strong health services and mixed methods research skills to participate in an exciting program of research to improve timely medication management reviews, and hence resident outcomes, through the use of digital interventions in aged care. The role will involve close liaison with a wide range of research partners, both internal and external to the university.
The successful applicants will be interested in working in a multi-disciplinary team and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders. They will be able to work independently and demonstrate the capacity for critical thinking about research questions.
