Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Mental and Social Health Policy Officer on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

**Position Overview**

**Duties**:

- Providing advice on relevant policy issues within the areas of mental health and suicide prevention.
- Supporting the development of a new Veteran Mental Health Strategy, including undertaking research, developing drafts, and supporting stakeholder consolation.
- Drafting ministerial and senior executive briefings, reports, Ministerial correspondence, meeting papers and discussion papers.
- Gathering and analysing data and research to formulate and review technical advice in specific areas of policy.
- Supporting the team with requests for information, administration, media monitoring and coordination.
- Building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to seek feedback on, or contributions to, policy development projects.
- Supporting work with relevant committees, including developing discussion papers, and secretariat responsibilities where required.
- Supporting the Department's response to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, including providing input to Notices issued by the Royal Commission
