
Clinician - Mobile Assessment Treatment Team

The Mobile Assessment & Treatment Team of headspace, run by Uniting, is the mobile outreach to those who cannot access the headspace centres. Servicing the areas - Parramatta, Mount Druitt and Penrith, this program focuses on supporting young people who are at risk of developing a first episode of psychosis, or those that are currently experiencing psychosis.

**Role Overview**
The overall aims of clinical care within the Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team service will include:
- Assertive home-based care in the community, conducting assessments, general mental health support, guidance and direction
- The early detection of those young people who are experiencing, or are at risk of early psychosis or a first episode of psychosis by means of thorough assessment, consultation with the medical and broader clinical team
- Intervene early and effectively with young people at risk of a first episode of psychosis to prevent the onset of psychotic illness
**Essential Criteria**:
- Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body
- Demonstrated experience in the mental health sector with community health experience or understanding
- Experience working with patients in an acute mental health setting
- Experience with initiating and documenting mental health and bio-psycho-social assessments, understanding of short term
- psychosocial treatment for young people experiencing mental health difficulties
- Demonstrated ability to actively engage, collaborate and treatment plan with young people, their families and/or significant others
- Knowledge and understanding of early psychosis and first episode psychosis rationale and principles, along with the developmental stages of young people and the impact that a first episode of psychosis has on a young person’s development and on the family/significant other
- Ability to maintain the philosophy, standards, guidelines, policies and protocols of the EPPIC model and the organisation and to promote the early intervention and recovery of young people with a first episode of psychosis
- Current Australian Drivers Licence
