Principal Advisor, Water Quality

This position supports the Manager, Water and provides leadership and expertise to the Water Unit to support regulatory functions aimed to protect public health from hazards in water; providing technical specialist expertise in the assessment and management of potential health risks. This position is responsible for providing advice to the Manager Water, Deputy Chief Health Officer and Chief Health Officer on issues of public policy and strategic risk management relating to water quality and public health. A key focus of this role is to forecast and assess emerging threats to the provision of safe drinking water and climate change related threats to water quality, and devise strategies to proactively manage these threats. This role will be responsible for engaging with international and national research organisations and other health regulators to establish best practices for managing water quality risks.
