An exciting opportunity exists to lead the Strategic Planning Advisory team at EPA.
Modern urban planning has its roots in protecting human health and the environment. And there has never been a more critical time to harness your passion, technical planning and leadership skills towards the protection of all Victorians and their environment.
Strategic Planning is one of EPA's primary preventative levers for influencing development to deliver positive community and environmental outcomes.
About the organisation
As Victoria's environment regulator, we set and implement environmental standards to help ensure all Victorians can enjoy clean air, healthy waterways and pollutant-free land.
**Benefits of working with the EPA**:
- Contribute to the protection of Victoria's environment and our people's health
- Cast a larger span of influence by working on large-scale, exciting and diverse development proposals all over Victoria
- A focus on work/life balance and development opportunities
- A diverse and inclusive workplace with many career pathways
- Hybrid and flexible work arrangement options
**Strategy Division**:
EPA's Strategy Division is led by a group of highly committed regulatory and environmental professionals. The Division brings together critical functions that together serve the Victorian community by preventing harm to human health and the environment. The Division does so by bringing together multi-disciplinary teams to understand and resolve regulatory problems. These problems do not have one solution - they require methodical, progressive and diverse strategies.
**Development Advisory Unit**:
The Strategic Planning Advisory team sits within the Development Advisory Unit. Development Advisory is a unit of dedicated environment and planning professionals who advocate to protect the environment, human health and amenity. We facilitate the inclusion of environment and human health considerations into external decision-making frameworks, established under other state and federal legislation such as the Planning and Environment Act 1987, Environment Effects Act 1978 and the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990.
**The Team Leader, Strategic Planning Advisory team will**:
- Lead a high performing team of strategic planners to provide influential environment protection advice on a range of matters, including state significant precincts, infrastructure projects and key government priorities
- Build relationships and work productively with a range of key partners and stakeholders, including the Department of Transport and Planning, Victorian Planning Authority and local government
- Work collaboratively with others to ensure strategic planning advice is evidence based, authoritative and impactful
- Provide thought leadership and expertise in strategic planning to the broader Unit and organisation
**About you**:
**We are looking for a Team Leader who**:
- Contributes positively to an inclusive and collaborative team culture
- Models positive behaviours and supports and develops staff
- Has excellent professional written and verbal communication
