Expression of Interest for sessional teaching and marking across courses in the School of Computing Technologies of the STEM College, RMIT.
- Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University or online.
- Casual hours commencing ASAP
- Contribute to a culture of quality learning and teaching of the School of Computing Technologies.

About the Role

The Casual Academic Sessional is expected to contribute to the teaching efforts of the School of Computing Technologies in the Bootcamp & Studios courses. You are responsible for carrying out various teaching and assessment activities and will work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team to achieve desired student outcomes.

Undertake team lead teaching and marking at undergraduate level. Facilitate, support, and assess student learning to achieve and maintain competency. Support the delivery of teaching best practice, student service and enhanced student outcomes. Utilise a range of tools and techniques to develop student capability. Comply with RMIT’s policies including code of conduct, equity and diversity, and health and safety. Keep abreast of any outstanding student requirements and required assessments over the semester. Attend meetings as required. Mentor students in a constructive and supportive learning environment. Provide support to promote self-awareness, professional development, and growth of the student.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

- Evidence of teaching ability and the capacity to engage students in an enthusiastic, concise, engaging and informative manner
- Demonstrable ability to teach in a collaborative bootcamp and studio (learning by doing) environment, small group environments, working in teaching teams to stimulate student discussion (mostly relevant for 1st year, bootcamp and studio courses)
- Demonstrable ability to grade student assessment and provide appropriate feedback
- Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content, research, and writing skills for course/s taught within the School of Computing Technologies programs
- Effective interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Prior experience in teaching or marking in computer science, cloud and security, data science and artificial intelligence related areas
- Experience in using a variety of tools such as GitHub and Trello

The School of Computing Technologies (SCT) is a centre for digital innovation, world class research, and education in STEM via streamlined collaboration across relevant disciplines.
