STATUS: Part-time fixed term until June 2029

HOURS Part-time 24 hours week

**Position Overview**:
The Aboriginal Community Engagement Lead will provide support to strengthen relationships with First Nations families and stakeholders across NSW. The Aboriginal community engagement Lead will work with Karitane staff and other Aboriginal colleagues to support Aboriginal families to provide person centred care that is culturally safe from the point of referral and across Karitane services.
The successful applicant will provide support to the Karitane team will provide input and cultural insight into the organisations vision for growth and future goals when working with Aboriginal families, directions and reviewing and implementing the Karitane Innovative Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
This role has the opportunity for flexible work locations including work from home options. The head office is the Fairfield Integrated Child and Family Hub (138-150 The Horsley Dr, Carramar), other locations include Randwick and Campbelltown.

- Peer support with other Karitane Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
- Flexible work arrangements including hours of work, and place of work

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide support and cultural advice to Karitane staff to provide a safer working environments for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Please note this role does not have direct reports
- Work with Karitane staff to review programs and services to ensure they are inclusive, respectful and culturally safe for Aboriginal families
- Work together with other organisation to support Aboriginal families to access Karitane services.
- Support partnerships with key Aboriginal Health Services and community organisations.

1. This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander cultures. 2. Relevant qualifications in health, health-related or community services discipline and / or relevant experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
3. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in healthcare or social services.
4. Strong knowledge, connection, and understanding of Aboriginal health services, Aboriginal organisations, and other relevant and culturally safe services.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
1. Temporary part-time position in accordance with the Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Health Employees Agreement 2019. Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
2. The majority of Karitane services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.
3. Karitane supports a smoke free environment including grounds, buildings and vehicles.
4. Applicants will have a commitment to EEO & WHS, ethical practice and the principles of cultural diversity.
5. Relevant Police Check, Working with Children Check, Apprehended Violence Orders and prior employment checks, including relevant disciplinary proceedings, will be conducted on recommended applicants
